LICENSE PLATE MAPS
License Plate Map - Mounted Style
Aaron's signature piece.
A large map of the United States created with license plates which
are cut into the shape of their particular state and mounted on a
heavy cedar wood background. Alaska and Hawaii are presented as
satellite pieces on separate small cedar wood pieces. This
piece adds "wow" to a wall. How impressive is Aaron's signature map?
The Smithsonian in Washington DC has displayed this famous work of
Aaron's since 2005.

Wood Type:
Rough cedar.
Wood Dimensions: This piece measures 62 x 40 inches.
The horizontal wood is half an inch thick cedar planking. The vertical boards
holding the piece together are also half an inch thick, so the
piece sits about 1/2 inch off the wall.
Wood
Treatment: The cedar wood is first painted black. After
drying, a second coat of paint is applied to create a barn red
color. The wood is then hand-sanded to let some of the black
color show through on the wood. The next step is to wax the wood,
which softens the color and results in an aged look. Most
customers choose the barn red color, as shown above. A few
clients have selected blue or green wood backgrounds. A custom wood color
may be specified for an additional $25.

visible, as this piece is designed to universally blend onto any
